**About BikePark Wales**
BikePark Wales is the UK’s number one mountain bike facility located at Merthyr Tydfil on the edge of the Brecon Beacons national park just 25 minutes north of central Cardiff. The park is now an internationally recognised destination and a mecca for mountain bikers, descending on Myndd Gethin, a 491-metre summit.
BikePark Wales is a young, successful business which is growing fast.
The current offering includes over 40 world class mountain bike trails, a vehicular uplift service, café, bike shop, bike hire, coaching and events but an ambitious development plan is now underway to both improve the existing services and add new products to the existing site.
**The Role**:
With an excellent network of graded trails for all levels of riders, enjoying them safely is always our priority.
Having a love for the outdoors and an appreciation for the elements all year round will be essential for this role. Whilst we get our fair share of sunny days, being prepared for what winter months can bring is key.
**Duties and Responsibilities to include**:
- Delivering emergency first aid treatment to BPW customers, who have sustained an injury whilst riding, and to BPW staff members who may have suffered an injury whilst at work.
- Assisting those injured on the hill who are unable to make their own way down to the centre
- Completing first aid recording procedures for every injured person, and completing a follow up call to enquire how their recovery is proceeding
- Working within established BPW H&S guidelines as well as its relevant partners
- Assisting on ordering and storing first aid equipment, including maintaining an inventory system to monitor stock levels
- Conducting patrols on the hill, supporting any customer queries, monitoring all riders have the appropriate ride bands and dealing with riders that do not.
- Supporting Visitor Welcome at busy periods across the day
**General team duties**:
- To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
- To co-operate with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
- To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the Company’s equal opportunities policies.
- To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
- To understand and comply with the Company’s environmental policies
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post
**Key skills**:
- Confident in working in all outdoor conditions
- Be organised, honest and reliable, and work calm under pressure
- Have a good understanding of customer service, willingness to approach non paying riders
- Basic IT skillS
- Full, clean UK driving license
**Desirable skills**:
- A keen interest in MTB and BikePark Wales
- Ability to communicate in the Welsh language
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- FREC 3 or above
- Confident bike rider, and/or quads
- Valid ATV/quad certificate
- DBS certified
- Being an intermediate level or above biker and or motorbike rider is desirable but not essential as training is available.
- Staff should be physically fit as they will be on their feet for most of the day and will be working outside when assisting injured riders as this may include riding and electric trials bike and a quad.
