London, United Kingdom University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The North Thames TYA Cancer Network is recruiting a CNS/CTP for TYA Research and Tissue Banking. The post is joint funded by the Network and by NIHR, and is an autonomous and specialist post within the TYA Cancer MDT. The post holder will lead on projects improving the access and uptake of trials for young people with cancer, and development of genomics processes across North London, Essex and Hertfordshire.

The post holder will work within and team, and autonomously to support the implementation of the TYA Service Specifications.

The role will entail clinical and leadership responsibilities including:

- Educating patients, families and clinical teams on the importance of clinical trial inclusion for young people with cancer.
- Liaising with clinical teams, signposting available trials where relevant
- Identifying the barriers to young people being able to access trials, both locally, regionally, and nationally and escalating these to the North Thames TYA Cancer Network. Working with relevant stakeholders to address these challenges.
- Identifying current challenges to tissue banking across the region.
- Lead a working group within the TYA Network, looking at creating pathways to improve opportunity for tissue banking.
- Collection of relevant data as per the TYA Service Specification

For more information regarding the main responsibilities of the role, please refer to the attached Job Description.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population. We provide academically led acute and specialist services, to people from the local area, from throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. Our vision is to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education, and world-class research.

We provide first-class acute and specialist services across eight sites:

- National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
- Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals
- University College Hospital Grafton Way Building
- Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine
- University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre
- The Hospital for Tropical Diseases

We are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of many complex illnesses. UCLH specialises in women’s health and the treatment of cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease. It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

At UCLH, we have a real ‘One Team’ ethos, and our values - safety, kindness, teamwork and improving, are central to the way we work. This is supported by our staff, who voted us as the #1 NHS Acute Trust to work for in the whole of England.

The North Thames TYA Cancer Network is the largest service of its kind in the UK, caring for approximately 320 new patients each year. Whilst the majority of patients will be treated at the Network Principle Treatment Centre, UCLH, approximately 80 will be seen in other hospitals in the region. The recently launched TYA Service Specifications have created a mandate to improve care of young people with cancer, including metrics around the numbers being recruited to trails and having the opportunity to bank samples for genomic analysis. The region includes large Cancer Hospitals including The Royal Free, Barts Health and Imperial.
