**About us**
For over 145 years, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board has provided support the Jewish community and North Leeds community as one of North Leeds most established Social Care Charities. Our vision is to positively change lives and we do this by delivering an extensive range of community support and registered care services to over 1,000 people every month. As part of our registered care services, we run three Kosher, residential homes for people with learning disabilities. All three homes are well-established with a Good CQC rating and excellent reputation.
**Role Summary**
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Safety and Facilities Compliance Officer passionate about making a difference through the service we provide and making a positive difference to the clients we support.
The Safety and Facilities Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures. This role involves developing LJWBs Health and Safety Compliance Plan, conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions.
You will be expected to take the initiative to proactively identify areas for Health & Safety and Facilities improvement and implement and coordinate the health and safety and facilities plan for each of the LJWB sites.
**Responsibilities**
As part of your role, you will:
- manage and review the current facilities systems ensuring legal compliance and safe systems of work are adhered to across all sites.
- You will be responsible for overseeing health and safety, all facilities, managing budgets and providing information through reports and if required attending committees of the Board to update the CEO, Trustees and committee members on progress and actions taken.
- You will also be required to provide reports as requested to other meetings including our Registered Care Mangers meeting and senior leadership team meeting.
You must be IOSH qualified and studying towards NEBOSH certification or willing to undertake this training. You must have technical knowledge of fire safety, first aid, legionella awareness and contract/ contractor management in similar service provision.
As a member of LJWBs management team you will contribute to and guide the management of the organisation, helping to achieve LJWBs vision, mission, aims and objectives.
**Requirements**:
Ideally you will have the following knowledge and experience:
- Substantial experience of financial management, contract procurement and management, delivery, strategic planning, partnership and relationship development
- IOSH/ NEBOSH equivalent
- Experience of statutory and voluntary sector procurement, contracting, delivery and outcome management
- Experience of the implementation and management of facilities systems and compliance
- Ability to produce policy and procedural documents in line with statutory requirements
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, with a high level of competency in differentiating style for audience
- Excellent influencing and communications skills
- Ability to handle a complex workload meeting deadlines and prioritising competing demands
- A pro-active attitude to problem solving with an energy and commitment to bring about change
- A passion for helping people and supporting individuals to achieve their potential
- An understanding or experience of providing social housing, office and or registered care service facilities.
