ENT is a busy department with a large number of clinicians including consultants, registrars, speciality doctors and nurse practitioners all of whom are supported by an administrative team. Significant numbers of referrals are received from GP's, both routine and via the 2 week wait systems. The team links closely with the Oral Surgery department relating to Head and Neck cancers.

The post holder will provide a pivotal role in ensuring that all patients waiting for an admission have an agreed date for surgery, receive the relevant paperwork, pre-admission appointment and adhere to the 31 / 62 day cancer pathways where applicable.

We are looking for someone who works in an efficient, organised and flexible manner as it is a job share position and cover will be required for the job-sharer during annual leave / sick periods. A flexible approach to workload and additional tasks may also be required.

The ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise tasks are essential requirements.
- Request Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) codes and upload the code on to the inpatient access plan. Chase clinicians if not indicated on surgical pathway. Liaise with CCG if patients are declined or further information is required.
- Ensure that 2 week wait patients are dated in a timely manner, informing the MDT coordinators and escalating any issues to Operational Coordinator.
- Routine patients are admitted strictly in wait time order, as listed, on PTL.
- Ensure that patients are booked on to appropriate operating lists, the lists are filled to an agreed profile and the TCI date added to Lorenzo.
- Ensure all patients cancelled on the day of surgery are re-booked in accordance with government policy ensuring that the 5 and 28 breach policy rulings are strictly adhered to.
- To check the waiting lists on Lorenzo daily. Plan and maintain the waiting list, in accordance with Trust procedure, highlighting problems to the Consultant, Speciality and Operational Coordinator, as appropriate.
- To be the first point of contact for patients seeking to agree their admission date and to offer admission dates that are strictly 'in turn' and in keeping with their clinical priority.
- To offer all patients a choice of dates in accordance with Booked Admissions Policy as outlined in the Patient Access Policy and ensure Raedweld / Admissions team are informed so that they can follow up with a confirmation letter and appropriate patient information leaflets.
