**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**:PT Debt Caseworker (MaPS Debt Advice Project)

**Hours**: 22.2 per week (0.6FTE). Days to be agreed.

**Responsible to**:Director of Development

**Salary**: £22,000 - £24,712pa (pro rata) depending on experience +3% pension

**Job location**:Mixture of working from home and at our Plymouth office.

Balance between home and office working to be agreed. Remote working considered.

**Job purpose**:To deliver high quality debt advice to clients, with due regard to the aims, policies, and procedures of the organisation.

**Contract type**: Fixed-term - until March 2025; although we are hopeful of the funding being extended beyond this date.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

**Work with clients**
- Provide advice/casework covering the full range of debt issues, face-to-face and by telephone.
- Ensure that clients receive a prompt and professional service.
- Attain MASDAP client targets as required.
- Act for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, and acting on debts, including offering advice on remedies such challenging debts, debt relief orders, bankruptcy, informal debt management plans.
- Clarify with the client their priority and non-priority debts and assist the client to negotiate realistic repayment plans with priority creditors.
- Advise and assist clients in negotiating with relevant housing, welfare, benefit and justice agencies, and in budgeting, paying bills, maximizing income, and claiming relevant benefits.
- Ensure clients understand the terms of any legal obligation entered, or about to be, entered into.
- Where other needs are identified, signpost to other services.
- Ensure clients are encouraged to feedback their views on the service they receive and take on any comments on ways we could improve the service.

**Networking/Partnership**
- Work closely with partner agencies
- Promote the services of the organisation to local housing, justice, social welfare, government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Contribute knowledge, expertise, and ideas to appropriate local forums.

**Administration**
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic case records for continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation.
- Take ownership for monitoring own workload eg proactively reviewing progress on current cases, outcome of completed cases and quality control.
- Ensure that all casework conforms to Financial Conduct Authority standards and the

Advice Quality Standard.

**Professional development**
- Keep up to date with legislation, case law, policies and procedures relating to money advice, and attend appropriate training, including reading relevant publications.
- Attend meetings, supervision and training as required by line manager.

**General**
- Uphold the aims and principles of the organisation.
