Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Foot & Ankle Surgery, FRCS (Orth) or equivalent. The post is based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, OUH NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford.

The fixed term post is to commence as soon as possible from Wednesday 4 th March 2020, for a period of 6 months with a similar post available for the following 6 months.

The objective of the Fellowship is to develop an individual from a senior registrar role to a point of overall competence to work in / lead a specialized Foot and Ankle practice.

Please note applicants must be BOFAS Certificated (or overseas equivalent)

The post holder will gain clinical and operative skills under the direct supervision of the Consultants on the foot and ankle team. The post holder will conduct clinics, operating lists, ward rounds and assist with clinical management with the consultants and on behalf of the consultants’ during their absence.

With adequate experience, the post holder will be encouraged to undertake additional clinics and operating lists independently.

The post holder will also be encouraged to take a leadership role in management and governance activities of the team with appropriate support. Usually the F&A Fellow leads the monthly F&A journal Club.

The post holder will participate in the speciality registrar on-call rota at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre site:
1:21 on-call (resident) 0800-2030.

(non-resident) 2030-0800

(resident) 2000-0830.

Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre is a teaching hospital and is 1 of 4 sites of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It provides a service for the clinical management of musculoskeletal problems its facilities include Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and a specialised diagnostic service in Histopathology and Medical Imaging.

There are 5 orthopaedic in-patient wards, 1 in-patient bone infection unit, HDU/Recovery with an overall total of 196 beds, 8 operating theatres and a purpose built day surgery unit.

The hospital takes 5000 admissions each year, sees 30,000 outpatients, either on the premises or in peripheral clinics, there is a tertiary referral centre for specialist orthopaedics and physical rehabilitation. Patients are referred from the Oxfordshire district, other regions and beyond.

The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre is a hospital site which has grown considerably over recent years and which is presently generating more work. It is expected that this will continue and promote the development of specialist activity within the field of orthopedics’.

The post requires the occupant to be resident and not resident during on-call periods.

The post-holder must hold full registration with the General Medical Council.

**Salary scale**: Nodal Point 5 - local appointment grade code - MT05

Out of hours commitment is applicable.

The post holder must be up to date with all mandatory and statutory training including ATLS or equivalent.
