Daily consultant led skin cancer clinics are held with ~35-40 patients reviewed per day in conjunction with parallel consultant led surgical lists and Mohs micrographic surgery lists. General consultant led dermatology clinics run daily with 20 to 25 patients seen per clinic. Specialist clinics which run weekly or fortnightly include patch testing, allergy, paediatrics, vulval, cutaneous lymphoma and haematology, photosensitivity, nurse led biologics, acne, and leg ulcer. Photodynamic therapy and phototherapy are undertaken within the department. Laser work is primarily multiplex pulsed dye/Nd: YAG laser with a general anaesthetic list once per month at the Horton hospital.

Skin diseases affect at least 20% of the population and over 15% of GP consultations relate to problems with skin. Dermatology is predominantly an out-patient based specialty. STs will learn whilst working under the supervision of a consultant. Duties include attending outpatient clinics, performing skin surgery, reviewing urgent out-patients and ward patients, supervision of the daily care of in-patients and attending ward rounds if necessary and completing associated administration in a thorough and timely manner.

We are pleased to be able to advertise for 1 0.5 WTE (20 hours) dermatology clinical fellows to join our experienced dermatology team in Oxford. Located within the Thames Valley, we are the training centre for Thames Valley Specialty Registrars in Dermatology. Oxford is a recognised centre of excellence in numerous areas of dermatology. With one of the highest incidences of melanoma in the UK, we have state of the art surgical, diagnostic and laboratory facilities in a purpose-built unit. We have excellent on-site links with plastic surgery, with a centralised head and neck skin cancer service. We are paediatric dermatology centre of excellence and undertake dedicated paediatric dermatology clinics and Teenage and Young Adolescent Clinics and have close links with paediatrics team. We manage patients with complex medical dermatological conditions and have close links with the rheumatology team including joint clinics and are a specialised centre for a number of area of medical dermatology. We are one of only a few centres in the UK that undertake specialist photosensitivity clinics. We have close links with the allergy team and dermatologist undertaking dedicated allergy clinics including skin prick testing and patch testing. We undertake laser treatments for both adult and paediatric patients. We are keen to recruit a dermatology clinical fellow, who will relish the opportunity of training, working and teaching in this inspirational environment

**Daily Commitment**: The clinic attachments may vary but there will be a mixture of general, specialised and surgical clinics as well as administration time. There are 2 vocational GP trainees and an academic FY1 attached to Dermatology at any one time. Trainees are allocated a specified rota but work together to ensure that clinics and workload are appropriately covered.

**Administration/Management**: Maintenance of patients' records, completion of proformas and the writing of letters as appropriate in a timely manner ie dictation within 24 hours & approval in 7 days.

**Aims of the Post**: The trainee will learn to recognise and manage common dermatoses and skin malignancies in the out-patient clinic

The trainee will learn to communicate effectively with patient affected by chronic skin diseases

The trainee will learn the principles of topical treatment and the management of leg ulcers

The trainee will gain considerable experience in skin surgery including cryosurgery, punch, shave and excision biopsy
