Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Applications are invited for the above post within Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) Foundation Trust, OXFORD UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS FOUNDATION TRUST

We are looking for enthusiastic Radiology Fellows (3) to join the team of existing Radiologists working cross site to provide Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Trauma radiology services to Oxfordshire. The post will contribute to the provision and development of these services in conjunction with Radiology and clinical colleagues. Based jointly between the Radiology Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Headley Way, Oxford OX3 9DU, and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Windmill Road, Oxford OX3 7HE.

The purpose of this post is to provide a broad post CCT training in musculoskeletal radiology. The fellow will be expected to: i) work with the consultant and SpRs to fulfil the clinical obligations of the department, ii) participate in research projects, iii) participate in formal and informal teaching.

The post-holder will be expected to keep himself/herself fully up-to-date with their relevant areas of practice

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

The fellow will join the rota initially under the direct supervision of a consultant but will have a more autonomous role as he/she gains experience. The Fellow may be expected to participate in teaching of the specialist registrars and occasionally other medical and non-medical personnel. There are 10 WTE Consultant Radiologists, who perform only skeletal imaging. They also head up the department that comprises of up to 3 Fellows, and two or three Specialist Registrars. The practice covers MSK tumour, paediatric MSK/rheumatology, elective orthopaedic and rheumatological imaging at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, trauma imaging at the John Radcliffe Hospital and elective CT and CT guided intervention at the Churchill hospital.

The post holder will be required to work within the Trust’s management procedures, both statutory and internal, accepting that the resources available to the Trust are finite and that all clinical practice or workload, or developments requiring additional resources must have prior agreement with the Trust. He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, and the running of his/her department under the direction of the Clinical Director.
