We currently have a vacancy for a Purchasing Manager to start asap. Workings hours are Monday to Thursday 9 - 5.30 and 9 - 4.30pm on Fridays. As a Purchasing manager this role is instrumental in taking control of everything the company buys and ensuringthat the company’s supply chain runs smoothly and efficiently. The role will ensure that suppliers provide the best combination of quality, price and service levels to support our customers and production needs. The role will plan, organise and control productionto ensure that it is undertaken efficiently, on time, within budget and to our high-quality standards.

Responsibilities:

- Day to day management of the department
- Continuous improvement of the purchasing systems and workflow
- Increasing value and reducing cost
- Sub contract orders
- Negotiating and communicating with suppliers
- Ensuring input price lists are maintained and that material and other costs are accurately reflected in our quotations and sales contracts
- Help install an ethos of problem solving and a proactive approach to dealing with issues
- Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and quality

Skills & experience:

- Good negotiation skills
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Able to communicate well with more senior members of the Batten and Allen Team as well as with peers and the wider team
- Understanding of the need for high levels of customer service
- Numerate and literate
- Understands how MRP works and can production plan in a clear and concise manner
