Band 4 Therapy Support Worker

**Job summary**:
The Solihull Community Intermediate Care cover sites across Solihull as well as the patient's home. They provide therapy to those who are placed in discharge to assess beds/discharged home requiring further assessment and rehabilitation following a period of hospital admission as well as complex discharge planning needs. The role of a therapy support worker is to support the delivery of therapy services to patients within the intermediate care service. This involves working in a multi-disciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses, and other Therapy Support Workers. As a Therapy Support Worker will work autonomously under the supervision of the qualified therapists. We are a friendly and forward-thinking team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support workers, committed to the continued professional and career development of all staff. We provide team in service training and support with on-the-job training / competencies. The trust and team are committed to providing a 7-day therapy service. This role includes participation in a weekend cover rota and bank holidays.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To use developed clinical skills to assist in rehabilitation of patients in community bed based or patients own homes.
To manage and prioritise own patient caseload delegated by the qualified therapist and work without direct supervision at times.
To be responsible for delegated aspects of clinical intervention and collection of relevant patients' information. To assist the registered therapist in the assessment of patients and provide feedback to the registered therapist regarding patient progress.
To independently conduct site visits to fit and deliver equipment and obtain necessary heights as requested by the qualified therapist.
In negotiation with the qualified therapist, to provide a range of therapeutic activities that instruct and guide the patient to achieve personal goals e.g., activities of daily living, rehabilitative activities, appropriate exercises, gait re-education and stairs assessments.
To instruct patients and carers by providing advice and guidance on a range of physical therapy and mobility activities, as part of own clinical work or as directed by a registered therapist.
To be responsible for the safe use of equipment and aids for patients, observing a personal duty of care in relation to all resources, equipment and assets encountered in the course of the work.
