Campaigns and Events Officer

Chelmsford, United Kingdom Essex Police Full time

Our Campaigns Team is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative individual to join us on a temporary basis, whilst the postholder is on maternity leave.

As a Campaigns and Events Officer, within the Media and PR department, you’ll need to be experienced in delivering impactful communications, behaviour-changing campaigns, and community events.

You will be experienced in managing budgets for both campaigns and events to meet our force objectives.

A master of storytelling, with a strong belief in public service, we want to know that you can identify the best way to reach a wide range of audiences so that you can share information that could help save lives.

You’ll also be promoting our great work as well as helping to reflect the voice of our local communities. By working closely with our partners, local businesses and volunteer networks, you’ll amplify the voices of the people of Essex and find opportunities to highlight how Essex Police works to protect and serve the county every day.

We need a strong written and verbal communicator with at least 3-5 years experience in a similar role. If you have a keen eye for digital storytelling, a great knowledge of the latest social media trends, and someone who wants to make a difference to their local communities, then we want to hear from you.

It’s a bonus if you have an understanding of, or previous experience in, public affairs. You’ll be involved with understanding the Force’s position on existing or emerging issues including: county lines, knife crime and supporting victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

Although you’ll be based at Chelmsford Essex Police College, this role can require travelling around the county to meet various teams and partners, so access to a vehicle is desirable.
- 3-5 years experience in a previous marketing, PR or communications role.
- Experience of planning, creating, delivering and evaluating campaigns and events.
- The ability to demonstrate strong partnership working skills.

It would also be helpful if you could evidence:

- A recognised qualification in journalism, PR, marketing or campaigns.
- Public affairs knowledge or experience, so you can help shape the Essex Police narrative for existing and emerging issues (e.g. county lines, knife crime, support for victims of domestic and sexual abuse).

This temporary opportunity is expected to last for one year.
