We have an opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Coordinator to join our Community Safety Team which will be integral to taking forward and coordinating council and partnership activity to tackle this high priority issue. This is an exciting time to join what is a relatively new team and to support and influence the direction of this work, including the development of a Coordinated Community/Whole System Response and commissioning and other activity around it.

Walsall has a developing Domestic Abuse Partnership with strong multi-agency commitment. The Domestic Abuse Coordinator will play a central role in the development of this work and the delivery of Walsall’s on-going response to this important issue. In doing so they will help protect the residents and communities of Walsall whilst ensuring as a borough we meet our statutory requirements.

The role and work will support the Council’s Resilient Communities model, which is a strength-based approach that, where appropriate, utilises individuals and communities to support themselves and underpins that support with integrated services and integrated enforcement.

**The post holder will be responsible for**:

- Ensuring the Council meets its statutory and key delivery responsibilities in relation to community safety and in particular domestic abuse, including those under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
- Facilitating the Policy and Strategic development of Domestic Abuse Services for Walsall Council and Safer Walsall Partnership.
- Ensuring Domestic Abuse Services and support is effective in Walsall.
- Leading on the development and implementation of Domestic Abuse Needs Assessment, Workplace Policy, Safer Walsall Domestic Abuse Strategy and Action Plan.
- Supporting the commission of specialist service provision to meet the needs of the diverse communities of Walsall and the management of associated contracts.
- Provide, specialist, advice, support and training to a range of audiences on Domestic Abuse, including advising and supporting Walsall’s Domestic Abuse Partnership Board.

Applicants will have experience of working in a partnership environment and have extensive knowledge of the legislative background for domestic abuse. They will also have experience of policy and strategy development and a degree or relevant professional or vocational qualification or relevant experience.
