**About the Service**

Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse. Our domestic violence services protect women, men and children who are experiencing abuse. We have a range of services to support our clients, whether they need help leaving an abusive home or rebuilding their life after domestic abuse.

We provide emergency short-term accommodation for women and men, with or without children, who are escaping abuse.

This role will be based at the refuge with expectation to travel to dispersed properties in cases of emergencies.

**In your new role, you will**:
Maintain security of the building, preventing unauthorised access through the use of CCTV, controlled entry system, and regular walks of the interior and exterior of the building and grounds at irregular times and patterns

Carry out H&S checks at the refuge which will include daily, weekly and monthly inspections and maintain clear written records as appropriate.

Ensure that communal services within refuge (cleaning, boiler room, surveillance equipment, gates, fences, refuse area etc.) are functioning correctly, reporting any faults or repairs to the appropriate department to maintain the security and safety of the building

Maintain and update inventories of equipment, furniture and donations and assist the domestic staff to monitor the stock of cleaning materials (within COSHH regulations/guidelines).

Maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive refuge environment for all adult and child residents

Deal with emergencies within all safe accommodation

Contacting emergency services and the on-call system as and when required.

Carry out domestic duties including cleaning of communal spaces

Prepare rooms for new admissions in line with our lettable standards

Complete admission process for new families into safe accommodation, including showing residents around the property and our safety and security measures.

Answer the telephone and the door and deal with all residents and authorised agencies in a helpful and active manner

Respond positively and helpfully to incidents that may require assistance, ensuring own safety, completing any written records as appropriate, such as incident logs

Provide a reception service which will include, taking phone calls, receiving and directing visitors, recording details of contractors and other routine tasks whilst on site and ensure suitable methods of monitoring them.

Ensure that license agreement, house rules and safety procedures are clearly communicated and implemented.

Remain visible and accessible within the scheme to families and arrange and deliver group/ individual activities where appropriate

Receive and read information as part of handover

Ensure any matters relating to safeguarding are brought to the attention of staff/manager and the Safeguarding policy and procedure is followed

**You will**:

- Be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Be able to work on your own initiative along with a commitment to teamwork.
- Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service.
- Have previous experience of customer facing work
- Be non-judgemental, honest, reliable and trustworthy.
- Have good experience of being able to respond calmly to difficult situations and handle emergencies without immediate supervision
- Have access to your own car and drivers licence
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and the need to follow policy and procedures

**Shift pattern ( with flexibility)**:
Week 1 - Monday Friday 9pm
- 5am ( with 1 hr break in between)

Week 2 Wed
- Sunday 9pm
- 5am ( with 1 hr break in between)
