The Charlie Waller Trust has been working for over 25 years to improve awareness and understanding of mental health. Created by the Waller family in 1997 in response to the loss of their son and brother Charlie to suicide having suffered from depression, we have since become one of the UK’s most respected mental health charities.

**About the **Charlie Waller Trust**

We provide evidence-informed education, training and other resources to schools, colleges and universities, parents and carers and the workplace. We also sponsor a Chair in evidence-based psychological treatments at The Charlie Waller Institute, based at the University of Reading.

We are known for our team of highly experienced trainers and staff, all of whom are both expert and passionate about mental health.

**About our Education Programme**

Our Education Programme provides schools, colleges and universities training and consultancy to promote mental health and wellbeing in children and young people, and those who care for them. Education establishments are crucial to the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people and need training specific to their individual circumstances which is delivered in a variety of formats including face to face and online.

**About our Families Programme**

Our families programme delivers training and resources to parents and carers. We deliver general training to families alongside our parent carer peer support courses and New Maudsley eating disorder training. Our training aims to give families the skills and knowledge that they need to support a child or young person with their mental health and wellbeing and is evidence informed and co-produced with those who have lived experience.

**About our Workplace Programme**

Charlie Waller Workplace is our paid for offering and delivers specialist mental health training and consultancy to employers. Our training helps to inform workplace strategy and equip people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to look after their own mental health and the mental health of people they support. We also deliver key topic seminars on a range of mental health and wellbeing topics.

**Our Quality Assurance Lead**

We are seeking a freelance Quality Assurance Lead to join our growing team. The role will quality assure the training delivered by our team of freelance mental health trainers who work across our education and families programme, delivering training, talks or workshops on mental health and wellbeing to a range of audiences. This will include observing both online and in person delivery and how any slides or other aids or resources are used, ensuring our training remains evidence based, clinically sound and appropriately delivered. An important aspect of the role will be to ensure our trainers deliver in a way that meets the needs of a diverse range of audiences, whose mental health may have been adversely impacted by their race, sexuality, social or economic circumstances.

**We are looking for someone with**:

- a clinical qualification in mental health and/or psychology or equivalent relevant experience such as Counsellor, Social Work, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist etc
- experience in training delivery across different education settings and to a range of audiences
- experience in quality assurance of training programmes
- an in-depth knowledge and understanding of children and young people’s mental health, including evidence informed approaches and interventions
- understand our training and processes and provide quality assurance of our training delivery
- demonstrate highly effective communication skills
- provide delivery specific feedback to our team of freelance trainers following observation and support with identifying any development needs
- provide a quality assurance report following each observation
- provide wider feedback and guidance to the senior management team as and when appropriate

We offer a self-employed contract at the rate of £400/day plus travel expenses. We expect this role to equate to 2 days a month on average.
