Solihull, United Kingdom Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council Full time

Public Health - Healthy Places Team

At Solihull Council, we pride ourselves on being small enough to care, but big enough to make a difference. The Public Health Team is committed to protecting, promoting, and improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Solihull.

Solihull Public Health has an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is a real driver of change to join us on a two year fixed term contract. This post will be a key ‘engine room’ for supporting people to live longer and healthier lives and address health inequalities in Solihull.

The post holder will be responsible for implementing a refreshed Health and Wellbeing Strategy (currently under development) and continuing the implementation of the health inequalities strategy.

You will work with colleagues across the ‘system’ which is made up of the Council, health colleagues, other public sector organisations, the voluntary sector and wider partners. There are projects that look to improve health and wellbeing, led by others, that you will support and there will also be projects that you lead on. Engagement and co-production with our communities will be an important part of this role.

To be successful in this role you will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and well-organised individual. You will have strong communication skills, negotiating with partners to improve how we work together on health and wellbeing objectives. Measuring the impact of our efforts will be an important part of your role. You will be able to present updates to Boards and Committees and use the direction from strategic leaders to further enhance our work.

In return, working for Solihull offers you the opportunity to develop your professional skills and experience with the challenge and variety that supporting public services provides.

As an employee of Solihull Council, you will benefit from a flexible and agile working environment, competitive salary, an extensive wellbeing offer, as well as attractive staff benefits including a generous leave entitlement with the opportunity to purchase up to 10-days additional leave per year, staff discounts and access to the Local Government pension scheme.

We recently adopted our smarter ways of working model which recognises that work is about what you do and not where you go. As part of this, this role will involve working on a hybrid basis which includes a combination of working from home and from our offices in central Solihull. You will be willing to travel to the office at least one day per week and as and when needed in order to fulfil the needs of the service.

Interviews will be held on Friday 29th September.

Please note we do not accept CVs.
