The SATCOM SKYNET Team is responsible for the sustainment and development of the MOD's strategic, worldwide communications capability. They are tasked with ensuring continuity of the required capability and its future development, to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for defence communications and to defeat the growing array of sophisticated threats.

**Job description**:
The SATCOM programme is responsible for the sustainment and development of the MOD's strategic, worldwide satellite-based communications capability.

The Senior Security Officer will work within the programme’s security team, with the primary function being to facilitate the delivery of security artifacts across multiple programme workstreams, lead the transition from traditional accreditation to secure-by-design and manage the overall assurance process.

The Security Team are responsible for the formal security assurance of SATCOM services, in line with the secure-by-design principles, supporting all current and future services, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of each service. We provide an oversight on a complex set of security requirements, delivered via multiple suppliers across key multiple stakeholders (Space Command, Front Line Commands, NCSC National Technical Authority, Cyber Defence and Risk (CyDR)).

**Person specification**:
Responsibilities will include:

- Governance activities, including long term continuous improvement.
- Assurance and risk management, including the management of risk registers and risk reviews.
- Security accreditation, supporting the Security and Assurance Technical Lead.
- Development, management and deployment of an effective information security management system.
- SATCOM security audit activities, including scheduling, scoping and execution of audits.
- Programme management, ensuring procurement milestones have the necessary security input for new contracts.
- Effective and pro-active security stakeholder management.
- Maintaining the Project User Requirement Document (URD), System Requirement Document (SRD), Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance matrix and develop the requirements.

If you have the following skills and experience, we would love to hear from you

Ideally, we would like to see some previous experience in governance, assurance and risk management or security accreditation and the following skills or knowledge:

- Experience of working on programmes within a Security function.
- An understanding of risk tools, processes and practices.
- Experience of reviewing risk management accreditation document set (RMADS), security operating procedures (SyOps) and IT security health checks (ITSHC’s).
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, able to quickly assess information, producing and presenting credible recommendations and supporting reports at pace.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (including presentation) skills and a proven ability to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Passionate about your own personal development and the motivation and desire to continue your professional learning.
