Norwich, United Kingdom Primary Care Careers Full time

**About the Role**:
St Stephen's Gate Medical Practice is looking for an experienced finance officer. This is a permanent role and you will be joining a large primary care organisation in the heart of Norwich. You will work alongside a finance assistant, and be part of the senior team, to help in meeting our objectives as a provider of first-class health care to the people of Norwich and Norfolk.

We offer a competitive salary, an NHS pension, some element of flexible working from home, a city centre location and a work pattern that does not include Bank Holidays or weekends. Hours can be agreed by negotiation but are expected to be from 30 to 37.5 hours (FTE) per week. We expect the current post holder to be in a position to offer good levels of hand-holding support in your initial induction but after that they will then be retiring.
- The core role is to manage our accounts and cashflow. You will be involved in all aspects of credit control, payroll, purchase review and leading our quest in value for money. You will be the primary contact with our accountants, prepare payment runs for signatory and ensure all available income streams are claimed correctly.

We would be happy to meet you informally for a chat and a tour before any formal interview.

We don’t require you to have worked in the NHS before. We have two main service delivery functions which we hope you would find interesting. One is running a fixed income service which has to ration supply to increasing demand, the other is a variable tariff-based service where fixed and variable cost levels require responsive budgeting.

It's critical that we maintain a high standard of professional accounting, and that our finances are transparent, timely and accurate. You will be AAT qualified and experienced in using Sage Accounting and Payroll software, with good communication skills, able to demonstrate sound financial judgement, to plan and prioritise effectively, and build constructive working relationships.

You will be expected to provide assistance in developing and maintaining financial systems, work in accordance with accounting standards, and support and challenge our budget process.

**About Us**:
We are a modern, two site medical practice. We have a large team of clinicians to look after all aspects of your health. We have GPs, nurse practitioners who can prescribe, practice nurses, healthcare assistants and a practice pharmacist.

Working in the NHS brings a sense of vocation, and our primary mission statement is to make other people’s lives better. We believe we have an engaging and warm working culture, in which personal development is valued. Our recent staff survey showed that more than 9 in ten of our non-clinical team believe they have a positive impact on patient lives because of the work they do and are proud to work for us. We hope you would share in these values and understand how well-organised finances provide the resources to deliver the best possible patient care.
