An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and dynamic Senior Health Improvement Programme Officer to join our Health Improvement Team. Working within the Public Health Department you will be required to provide health improvement expertise and advice to increase the capacity of colleagues, partners and communities to promote health and reduce inequalities within Ayrshire and Arran.

Working across Ayrshire and Arran, you will progress a portfolio of work which will include leading on the delivery of prevention and early intervention programmes with key partners from the Health and Social Care Partnerships, Community Planning Partnerships, locality planning partnerships and the third sector. The post holder will build knowledge and capacity within these partnerships for partners to lead on the delivery of public health at a local level. This will involve working with a range of agencies responsible for health improvement delivery within these programmes, and also may include working with Public Health Scotland, Scottish Government departments, COSLA, national third sector organisations and higher education establishments.

You will facilitate practice development of the emerging and existing public health workforce. The public health workforce includes groups such as health and social care staff, education staff and third sector staff.

You should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of current public health policies, strategies and evidence in relation to improving health and reducing inequalities. In addition, you will have strategic awareness of the health improvement agenda and ability to influence future practice developments, have a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating the ability to work with, influence and negotiate with a range of partners, and have success in the development of health alliances.

**Hours**: 37.5 per week, based in South Ayrshire.
