Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support Business and Performance Management of the business units within Retail Banking and Strategy, on behalf of Group Head of Retail Banking and Strategy. The broad nature of the role demands a high calibre individual capable of dealing simultaneously with varying stakeholders across the Group. Flexibility and adaptability are required as tasks are unpredictable, complex and time sensitive.

Key Accountabilities:

- Develop performance management materials to ensure the seamless functioning of Group Retail Banking and Strategy business
- accountable for stewardship and delivery of capabilities spanning across Retail Products, Customers, Channels and Data & Analytics teams globally.
- Undertaking comparison and analysis across Business Units, including competitor trends to support performance management discussions.
- Support development, monitoring, and inclusion of key performance metrics within Retail Banking’s business lines to support and assess business performance in line with agreed strategy.
- Support the delivery of ad hoc projects to improve quality of strategic planning, MI, accountability and governance.
- Support the delivery of the Global Retail Banking events & communications agenda.
- Assimilation of large amounts of information - ability to review multiple sources of information and translate in a way that is relevant to different stakeholders.

Requirements

Key Skills & Experience:

- Good understanding of both HSBC overall and WPB business line
- Awareness of broad business issues in the Group and in the wider financial services industry
- Experience interpreting data and presenting results in structured deliverables
- Some experience in business and/or financial modelling desirable
- Highly developed critical thinking, with a willingness and ability to appropriately challenge the status quo
- Very strong analytical skills, evidenced through an excellent academic record
- Competent Excel usage with experience in interpreting complex data output
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to concisely, accurately and effectively structure and communicate both content and message with limited guidance
- Initiative, independence and judgement, balancing pragmatism and commercial considerations with broader strategic goals and an understanding of the needs of key stakeholders
- Ability and drive to deliver high quality work under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Ability to understand and navigate sensitive situations with conflicting stakeholder needs
- Ability to maintain focus on details, whilst considering/interpreting these in the context of strategic priorities
- Confidence and maturity in dealing with senior executives
