The responsibilities for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero for 2023 are as follows:

- Delivering security of energy supply
- Ensuring properly functioning energy markets
- Encouraging greater energy efficiency
- Seizing the opportunities of net zero to lead the world in new green industries

For 2023, our priorities are:

- Ensure security of energy supply this winter, next winter and in the longer-term - bringing down energy bills and reducing inflation.
- Ensure the UK is on track to meet its legally binding Net Zero commitments and support economic growth by significantly speeding up delivery of network infrastructure and domestic energy production.
- Improve the energy efficiency of UK homes, businesses and public sector buildings to meet the 15% demand reduction ambition.
- Deliver current schemes to support energy consumers with their bills and develop options for long-term reform to improve how the electricity market works for families and businesses.
- Seize the economic benefits of Net Zero, including the jobs and growth created through investment in new green industries.
- Pass the Energy Bill to support the emerging CCUS and hydrogen sectors; to update the governance of the energy system; and to reduce the time taken to consent offshore wind.

**Job description**:

- Do you want to be at the heart of Government's delivery of net zero carbon emissions by 2050? The Industrial Decarbonisation Portfolio Office leads on the important and exciting responsibility of coordinating the actions across the directorate and across Government to deliver industrial net zero targets and the legislated 'carbon budgets' (interim five-year targets towards 2050).
- This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a friendly and motivated team and support our ambitious clime change goals and work with a variety of senior internal and external stakeholders.
- The role requires a motivated SEO who is able to think strategically, analyse and make recommendations from a wide range of evidence, and effectively manage the risks and dependencies from across the Industrial Decarbonisation portfolio.
- We support flexible working and working outside of London in any of our offices in the UK.**Person specification**:
- Work with policy teams to map dependencies and benefits of new projects that form our strategy to reduce carbon emissions from industrial sources.
- Lead the co-ordination of internal and external stakeholders to analyse performance and expectations of initiatives. Provide secretariat functions for governance boards.
- Support the Senior Portfolio Analyst in building commitment from internal and external stakeholders to a shared vision for achieving our industrial decarbonisation objectives.
- Develop and improve the mechanisms of identifying risks and opportunities and how we measure these risks/benefits within the portfolio.
- Help build a strong and valued portfolio office but finding best practise from other portfolio offices
- Enable effective decision making from Ministers and senior leaders through converting analysis into informed insights.
- Help with the improvement of collecting and analysing information and data to facilitate better policy development and indicators.
