This is an exciting time to join us, and there is much to do. We are continuing to develop the Project Delivery Centre of Excellence and looking to further build and enhance our four areas of expertise: Assurance, Project Support including benefits, governance, risk etc, the PD Profession, Project compliance and standards.

The Portfolio Advisor role will work across these functions and help to provide much needed capacity to test, adapt and improve our project delivery offer.

**Job description**:
This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of the Department’s newly emerging, high profile Commercial and Projects Directorate. We are committed to investing in project delivery and increasing our capacity to support project delivery. We are an independent function which investigates, advises on and provides internal assurance over the delivery of these projects, as well as advising on appropriate support to drive up delivery.

You will be passionate about project delivery and will have some experience of working on some of the fundamentals of P3M (portfolio, programme and project) management including risk, benefits, business change, portfolio reporting, and / or professional development. This is an opportunity to learn and grow in the Portfolio Advisor role and in the project delivery space.

**You will likely work with one or two areas initially and contribute to some of the following duties, according to business needs.**
- Support the development of the Project Delivery Profession and promote learning and development activities.
- Support the consistent use across DCMS of a standard set of project management tools and methodologies
- Lead on the development of a prioritised schedule of risk and assurance reviews for our major programmes.
- Providing cross-cutting analysis from the assurance programme and assess progress on the implementation of recommendations.
- Support monthly Delivery and Risk Committee (which oversee delivery of the DCMS major projects portfolio) by providing data analysis and unique insights which would enable DRC to provide constructive challenges and drive successful project delivery in the department.
- Lead on ensuring that all our major programmes meet IPA and DCMS requirements and government standards i.e.SRO letters and AOA publication processes including liaising with senior stakeholders
- Support the shift to a culture of learning by contributing findings, experience and lessons learnt to the Project Delivery Community.
- Provide support to PD CoE Team, including monitoring and forecasting of team budgets, lead on intranet page redevelopment and updates, coordination of FoI requests, PD CoE inbox monitoring

**Person specification**:
Essential Requirements
- Good delivery skills with the ability to work at pace and to deadline, both on your own and within teams.
- Some experience or knowledge of working on a major project / programme in two or more of the following: governance and reporting, benefits management, business change, assurance and approvals, portfolio management and / or reporting.
- Good stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to work closely with a range of people at all levels to secure successful outcomes.
- An inquisitive nature with an interest in improving processes, systems and ways of working.
- Committed to improving the project delivery profession and to putting people at the heart of change.

Desirable Skills
- A P3M (project, programme or portfolio) qualification or working towards e.g. Prince2, MSP, APM
- Analytical skills and thinking
