Events and Communications Officer

St Mary's, United Kingdom Imperial College London Full time

Applications are invited for an Events and Communications Officer for the Human Infection Challenge Vaccine (HIC-Vac) Network.

You will provide high quality communications support (including Twitter, website and The Global Health Network site) and help design and deliver the HIC-Vac Annual Meeting and other events, as well as providing general administrative support for the Network.

A commitment to providing innovative and inspiring opportunities for people in the UK and LMIC (low and middle income country) settings to engage with HIC-Vac’s work is essential, as is an understanding of how to be innovative across the digital communications landscape.

Vaccines are amongst the most practical and cost-effective ways of mitigating the impact of infectious disease, especially in Low and Middle Income countries (LMIC). Although they already prevent many infections, new or improved vaccines are needed. Human infection challenge (HIC) is an excellent way to expedite vaccine development, enabling vaccines to be tested at reduced cost while providing abundant information about disease pathogenesis and mechanisms of protection. It is an exciting and growing field.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Maintaining HIC-Vac’s social media and website and creating engaging social media and website content.
- Producing articles for publication in print and online for both the press and scientific audiences.
- Designing and implementing a programme of webinars for HIC-Vac members.
- Planning, organising, facilitating and delivering interactive, educational and informative content, events and activities about the Network’s research for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinating HIC-Vac’s contribution to events targeting the general public.
- Supporting the HIC-vac Network manager in the management and administration of the Network and related activities.
- Supporting the logístical organisation of meetings, training events and other Network events as requested.

**Essential requirements**:

- A degree or relevant vocational qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Experiences in writing and editing published content, e.g. website, blog or newsletter.
- Science literate, with a background in vaccines, infection or medicine.
- Experience in working in an administrative capacity.
- Experience in organising public events, seminars, webinars etc. in a healthcare or research institution.
- Ability to communicate confidently at all levels of the organisation, with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
- Ability to organise, manage and coordinate project and related administrative activities, such as annual meetings and networking events.

**Further information**:
The post is Full Time (part-time can be considered) and Fixed Term post until 23rd Nov 2023 and will be based at the St Mary’s Campus, London, with the option to work partly remotely. Job share can be considered.
