Programme Details

This is an exciting opportunity to join McGill and Partners as part of our established Apprenticeship Programme. The Programme is designed to help you gain practical work experience and core skills that will enable you to build a long-term career within the firm. You will have an opportunity to join a dynamic, collaborative team as well as learn from some of the most experienced insurance brokers in the market.

You will become fully immersed in one of our Insurance Broking Specialty Teams, and you will also have access to our employee networks, social clubs and get exposure to client work that will help you to develop new connections and build new friendships, not just for today, but for your career ahead.

In a nutshell:

- 18 months structured programme
- Permanent full-time role
- Non rotational
- Support from line manager and buddy from one of our current Apprenticeship cohorts to support you settle into McGill and Partners.
- Within the programme, there are two core components which will contribute to your learning and development:

- On the job learning and training
- Level 3 Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship Qualification
- Business Development
- Species, Fine Arts and Jewellery
- Aviation
- Treaty Reinsurance
- Facultative Reinsurance
- Broking Operations

Your impact

You will work closely with colleagues across all of our locations. You will support your team with most of their day-to-day activity to ensure milestones are met. You will also support the team on broader initiatives, including marketing where you will be involved in preparing pitches and, in time, participating in them. You will have responsibilities for collecting, tracking, and analysing data and providing your team with support wherever required.

Essential skills and experience

Within our current apprentice population, we have apprentices who have joined us from university, other employment and directly from college or school. Insurance as an industry offers a range of career paths to suit your interest and skill set and we are pleased to be able to offer opportunities to start on that journey within McGill and Partners.

We are looking for someone who has a genuine curiosity in developing their career in the insurance broking market, be thoughtful in your approach and thrive on the idea of working in a fast-paced environment. Here are some of the other key skills we will be looking for:

- Diligence: You will have a high level of attention to detail and take pride in making sure things are done well and on time, working well both as part of a team and individually. You will be able to manage conflicting priorities effectively and confidently communicate updates to colleagues and clients.
- Curiosity: You will be eager to learn more about insurance and won’t be afraid to ask questions, grasping opportunities to learn from colleagues and developing your skills and understanding.
- Communication skills: You will have good communication skills and enjoy meeting and working with new people
- Client service: You will have a genuine interest in delivering for our clients with efficiency and professionalism.
- IT literacy: You will need to be comfortable with common software (including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and have the desire to build your capability in these areas.
- Character: You want to work in a supportive environment where integrity, collaboration and dependability is expected.

**Qualifications**:
Required:

- GCSEs grade 9-4 or A-C (level 2 and above) in Maths and English.
- 3 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications
- Right to work in the UK
