As a Apprentice Handler, you will be involved in servicing and administering the insurance portfolios of clients in a timely, professional and cost-effective manner.

You will have an understanding of the different classes of Insurance and how to assess a Client’s needs.

You will understand the different routes to market, including Lloyds, the composite market and delegated authority schemes.

You will have an understanding of how and why claims arise and the process of administering all classes of claims from date of first notification to settlement.

**What will the apprentice be doing?**

This role will be on a rotation program, starting in our London Corporate broking department, then our claims department and finishing in our property department, each for a 6 month period.

Please see below the main responsibilities in each of these departments:
London Corporate
- You will have a good understanding of IT Systems and processes and be able to correctly undertake administration processes including MTA’s, Renewals and New Business.
- You will have access to Client information and be able to process data confidentially.
- You will understand the role of Broker relationship with both Insurers and Clients.
- You will understand how to assess a Client’s need and provide advice that is appropriate.
- You will understand the different classes of insurance as well as ancillary services
- You will meet Insurers and gain an understanding of individual Insurer’s appetite and target market.
- You will be able to speak directly with Clients and assist with day to day enquiries.
- You will attend client Meetings with Account Executives.
- You will understand the methods of collection of Client Monies, Credit Control and be able to arrange Premium Finance.
- You will assist in the preparation of Registers, Reports, Presentations and Spreadsheets

Claims
- Register the new claims on the system for London and potentially for the regional teams
- Carry out some of the current admin functions that the senior handlers have to do
- Learn how we generate MI and why and assist Susan with this function
- Learn how all classes of business operate where we have outstanding claims (eg property, motor, liability, travel, cyber etc)
- Gradually have a small allocation of new claims to handle under strict mentorship
- Attend some client meetings with senior handlers
- Attend supplier and insurer meetings with senior members of the team to learn what the meetings are for and resulting action points
- Will have some learning days out with loss adjusters on site visits
- Work on the claims App which needs development
- Work on the IT claims project

Property
- DA/Underwriting Team
- Overview of Clear Group Property offering - Regions etc
- Introduction to Property Owners Insurance
- Introduction to Underwriting / DA’s /Rates
- Introduction to DA processes / administration / Flood/Subs checks etc
- Meet Insurers
- Potential to provide quotes

Property Broking Team
- Principals of Insurance in relation to property - understanding insurable interest / risks / proximate cause
- Different Classes of Insurance - understanding Client’s needs - Terrorism/D & O/Engineering/legal Expenses
- Meeting Insurers - understanding insurer appetite
- Review of some Client records
- Shadowing Execs at Client Meetings
- Undertaking admin process via systems - MTA /Renewals / Prospects
- Understanding Credit Control
- Assisting in preparation of Registers / Reports / Presentations / Spreadsheets

**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**

Insurance Practitioner Level 3
- Fully and part funded learning and development programme that includes the Cert CII
- Develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of successful Insurance Practitioners
- Role-specific route ways tailor the apprenticeship to the job role:

- Claims Handler/Loss Adjuster
- Assistant Underwriter
- Junior Broker
- Free CII membership for non-members through the CII Aspire Apprenticeship Programme
- Includes the CII study books and exam entries
- Resit costs for CII exams and End-Point-Assessment will be covered by the employer
- Fortnightly workshops for each CII exam
- All workshops recorded and available on-demand
- Interactive chat, forums and class notebooks for real time support and assistance from experienced and qualified insurance professionals
- Exam tips, tricks, and strategies
- Regular tutorials and assessments with your dedicated trainer
