**The role**:
As a Welding Operative, you are required to achieve and maintain a high level of quality and accuracy. Operating Gas
Tungsten Arc Welding plant which includes semi-automated and manual welding. The semi-automated process will
require the use of a computer-controlled welding program and an automated welding manipulator.

In addition to welding operations there will be occasions when you will be required to undertake assembly operations.
Bristle subcomponents known as tufts are placed in a uniform manner onto sideplates which will form the brush seals
once welded. This is known as laying up. This may be by means of an automated procedure or manually.

**Duties and responsibilities:
- Able to operate a range of manual and semi-automatic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding machines, following issue
- controlled work instructions and data cards.
- All welding must meet the defined standard which can be to Cross own spec, customer spec or to international

welding standards.
- Accurately follow all company documentation, work instructions and policies relevant to your department.
- Produce parts that conform to the drawing & specification requirements, being responsible for visually inspecting

the welds to the relevant internal, customer and international standards. This will include following the operator

verification procedure (OVP) process using the relevant measuring equipment.
- Ensure all documentation including works orders and inspection plans (DIP’s) are completed and operations

booked on the ERP system.
- Ensure daily checks and preventive maintenance procedures on the machines that you are using are carried

out and recorded on specific preventive maintenance forms, reporting any faults to the supervisor or deputy

supervisor.
- Ensure relevant PPE is worn, adhering to the Health & Safety guidance and procedures.
- Ensure 5S practices are followed throughout the department.
- Supervisor/Deputy supervisor are informed and communicated with to keep them up to date with progress of

work or issues that may arise.
- Ensure a detailed handover is provided when sharing work with fellow operators.
- Required to pass weld assessments for semi-automatic process and manual welding to ASME IX.
- Required to pass a weld visual inspection certification examination.

**Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in manual and/or semi-automatic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and an understanding of the

principles of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
- Good dexterity
- Precision in seeing through the daily responsibilities.
- Will be required to take a near vision and distant eye test, but corrective lenses would be provided if required

excluding contacting lenses.
- Will be required to a take a colour perception test.
- Basic PC knowledge.
- Demonstrate and uphold our company values.

**Further Information:
- Starting from £17.34 per hour, depending on experience
- 39 hours per week
- The position is primarily on a double day shift work pattern but requires the individual to be flexible with hours.
