**Job description - Boatyard Assistant**
Key Responsibilities of the Job:
- Hire fleet - member of turnaround day team
- Hire fleet - engine servicing
- Hire fleet - member of breakdown and assistance on-call team
- Assisting the Marine Engineers with basic plumbing, electrical and woodwork
- Hull maintenance slipway/docking works to take vessels out of the water
- Preparing boat steelwork for painting
- Keeping the premises tidy and well presented
**General Description**
Working in our Operations department the Boatyard Assistant is involved with practical hands-on tasks associated with a busy canal boat business however, a strong customer focus is required on the hire fleet turnaround days.
The role requires someone with a strong work ethic and basic level of practical skills. The role encompasses several areas of the Foxhangers’ operation and is vitally important in helping to ensure our boats provide unrivalled boating experiences that are enjoyed by our customers as well as supporting a happy and positive environment to work in.
Day to day responsibilities will be varied and the main focus of the role is the basic maintenance of our holiday hire boat fleet and privately owned canal boats. The role will also involve assisting our boat building team as well as general site maintenance. Given the varied nature of the role, a flexible can-do attitude is essential.

- Tractor & Trailer driving
- Digger driving
- All Terrain Forklift driving

- Welding skills (training can be provided)
- Plumbing knowledge and fault-finding skills
- Diesel engine knowledge and maintenance skills
- Current driver’s licence
- First Aid Certificate (training can be provided)
- Boat master/Helmsman license (training can be provided)
**Hours**
The standard working hours are 24 per week working three 8-hour days (08:30-17:00) with a half hour break for lunch.
During the period mid-March to end November this will include working Saturdays on a rota.
On occasions, you will be required to start work earlier or finish later to fit in with the demands of the business.

Pay: £24,000.00-£27,000.00 per year (pro-rata)
