**The Role**

A fundamental role to provide specialist support for the delivery of Flight Operations safety strategy as they relate to the aviation environment, particularly in the field of aviation safety performance. To support the Safety Performance Manager in identifying existing and future safety issues and develop solutions to enhance safety performance. The role holder prioritises and directs related actions to promote and continuously improve on an integrated safety management system within Flight Operations and on the improvement of positive safety culture for both internal and external parties. In addition, the role holder will perform a cross-SARG function, working with other capability teams, and taking the lead as a SME, to enhance and embed safety processes and best practice, enabling Flight Operations to fulfil statutory, contractual, and performance-based oversight commitments.

**Core Accountabilities**
- Support the Safety Performance Manager in providing clear direction on the strategic safety issues as they relate to the aviation environment, particularly in the field of aviation safety performance.
- Provide guidance to the Safety Performance Manager about the establishment and promotion of the integrated safety management systems within Flight Operations and improvement of positive safety culture for both internal and external parties.
- Responsible for the production of regular performance reports to the Safety Performance Manager, Head of Flight Operations and Senior Management.
- Provide expert input for the delivery of the Flight Operations communication plan including coordination on publications, promotions, and programs.
- Responsible for identifying existing and future safety issues (pertaining to Flight Operations) and develop solutions to enhance safety performance. Prioritise and direct related actions and monitor the effectiveness of such actions in achieving desired outcomes.
- Supporting the Safety Performance Manager in the effective delivery of SARG, and within that, Flight Operations specific Occurrence Reporting (OR) processes through the daily management of OR activities and recommendation for improving CAA internal processes.
- Responsible for the quality and assurance check of ORs.
- Responsible for providing technical and oversight support for the assessment of Operators safety investigations and with the applicable oversight team ensure agreed improvement plans are in place to avoid reoccurrence.
- Responsible for the management and monitoring of the applicable departmental KPIs and SPIs.
- Responsible for identifying, analysing, and effectively communicating issues and opportunities for improvement from multiple sources (incl. observations, oversight activities, performance data, metrics, indicators, trends, causal analyses, event investigations).
- Responsible for writing and updating safety performance processes in conjunction with other Flight Operations Team and ensure they are shared and accessible to all staff.
- Supporting the Safety Performance Team in its crew performance safety deliverables including human factor issues related to Change Management (behaviours, values etc.).
- Supporting Flight Operations Bowtie development in conjunction with the SARG-wide safety deliverables.
- Supporting the internal and external stakeholders in their delivery of safety information and data to improve their risk management.
- Facilitate group workshops with both internal and external parties in the pursuit of Operational Safety Improvements.
- Representing CAA Flight Operations at conferences, events, workshops, and forums.
- Conduct the induction for new team members, including training delivery as delegated by the Safety Performance Manager.

**About You**
- Experience in an operational safety management and change management environment (preferably in an aviation field)
- Excellent international knowledge of and connection to global aviation developments.
- Ability to ensure that all advice offered, and recommendations made, comply with the relevant international standards and best practices.
- Ability to identify and manage the business and safety risks to Flight Operations at a strategic and operational level.
- Confident manner in dealing with/influencing people at all levels of seniority and ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Excellent understanding of safety systems and processes such as those applied by the CAA.
