We have an opportunity for a Breast Screening Data Officer

Chelmsford and Colchester Breast Screening Service have a population of approximately 150,000 women screened over a period of 3 years. Women are invited to either of 2 static sites at CGH or Broomfield or to one of our 3 mobile units sited across Mid and North Essex.

Data needs to be collected and collated for outcomes of all screening invitations. Extended data collection for screen detected cancers and on-going treatment of these (average of 250 per year). This information has to be gathered from various sources which requires a high level of communication and data entry skills. The ability to work independently is necessary, but also good team working is required.

To gather and accurately record data from various sources including pathology, radiology, Somerset and other various clinical systems. Produce KC62 and BASO data in a timely fashion for annual submission. Investigate outliers from every discipline.

To run and validate monthly and quarterly key performance indicator (KPI) reports for Breast Screening in accordance with the national schedule in the absence of the Breast Screening Office Manager.

Keep track of the Very High Risk Breast Screening Programme. Contacting clients, GP Surgeries and internal departments to organise appointments and any other requirements to allow MRI’s to be carried out. Accurate recording with the NBSS system to book and record information of appointments.

- Clinical
- Ensure timely, accurate and complete data collection and entry onto existing database (NBSS
- Check validity of data, contemporaneously checking with Consultants, interpreting client letters, pathology reports and MDT outcomes
- Prepare and produce KC62 and BASO data quarterly with the full report ready for annual submission assisting the Office Manager
- Be an expert user of the National Breast Screening Programme System
- Service Delivery & Change
- Maintain the ability to input, browse and retrieve patient information using a number of sophisticated dedicated software packages
- Liaise with staff in the Symptomatic Breast Service and other departments within the trust
- Advise women on the appropriateness of a screening appointment or if a referral elsewhere is necessary
- Financial
- Ensure all Trust resources are used efficiently, safely and effectively in particular any high value item
- Patient Care
- Deal with client queries regarding screening schedule and give appropriate information and advice when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to knowledge gained through typing confidential letter
