The Trust is seeking to strengthen its financial services team, through the appointment of a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to the role of Finance Assistant within the Financial Services section of the Finance Directorate.

You will support the Financial Services Manager and Assistant Financial Services Manager in the provision of a high quality, professional financial accounting service.

**The post holder must have**:

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
- A comprehensive secondary education (5 GCSEs or equivalent)
- ECDL or equivalent experience
- Have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work with mínimal supervision.

**Duties include**:

- Responsible for the production of all invoices and credit notes and ensuring the appropriate VAT treatment has been applied.
- Assist with credit control activity including producing statements, reminder letters, aged receivable reports, and other required tasks.
- Assist staff with the invoicing process and to investigate and resolve queries raised by staff and customers.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating customer details on the Sales Ledger.
- Provide support to the Financial Services Team in the provision of a comprehensive financial accounting service.
- Provide cover for Finance Assistants within the section
- Provide on site on cover for the cashiering functions and when required.

Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage the production and despatch of all invoices and credit notes in line with Trust objectives and policies to meet monthly deadlines and cash requirements.
2. Ensure VAT is appropriately charged on all invoices and credit notes raised as per HMRC rules.
3. Responsible for administering the finance inbox including, referring queries to relevant team members and responding to queries where possible.
4. Maintain and update customer details on the sales ledger, include setting up all new customers.
5. Maintain and update other details on the sales ledger such as receivables product codes (analysis codes), Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) requirements and invoice requestors.
6. Assist with credit control activity including regularly producing statements, reminder letters, aged receivable reports and other tasks as requested.
7. Provide cover for other Financial Services Team members’ absences.
8. Assist finance and non-finance staff with the invoicing process being the first point of contact for all queries regarding the invoice requisitioning process.
9. Investigate and resolve basic invoice queries raised by staff and customers on both NHS and non-NHS invoices.
10. Produce a monthly analysis of credit notes raised.
11. Produce procedure notes for all tasks undertaken and review these annually.
12. Support the Financial Services Team in the provision of a comprehensive financial accounting service to the Trust, including supporting the breadth of activity undertaken by the team.
13. Responsible for prioritising own work and adhering to all monthly timetables and deadlines.
14. Work with the Assistant Financial Services Manager and Financial Services Team Leader to agree Personal Objectives, and a Personal Development Plan and keep up to date professionally through mandatory continuing professional development.
15. To provide on-site cover of the cashiering function This will involve the counting and receipting of income received.
