Facilities & Safety Officer

**Summary**
We are looking for a confident and vigilant Facilities and Security Officer to ensure the provision of a safe, clean, attractive learning environment. You will form part of a team undertaking responsibility for the maintenance, security, health and safety of the Academy site (including grounds, buildings, facilities, vehicles and equipment, ensuring that they operate efficiently and effectively.

We support students to achieve academically and to achieve excellent outcomes both at GCSE and at Sixth form.
**Main Areas of Responsibility**
Your responsibilities will include:
- Being a designated minibus driver
- Assisting with out of hours lettings
- Servicing, cleaning and checking Academy vehicles within capabilities.
- Providing technical and craft support to staff
- Reporting hazardous actions by staff to the Facilities Manager
- Maintaining, decorating and repairing Academy premises
- Liaising with, supporting and supervising external contractors
- Maintaining the Academy grounds
- Monitoring and replenishing toilets
- Regularly touring the Academy, keeping corridors free from litter
- Assisting in the removal of furniture
- Ensuring that any “accidents”, sickness or spillages are promptly cleaned, disinfected and made safe
- Patrolling of the Academy site and undertaking internal and external checks
- Attending to and pro-actively dealing with any security-related incidents
- Assisting the Leadership Team with behaviour incidents that require further investigation
- Maintenance and safe use of CCTV
- Lunchtime supervision, duty patrol and monitoring student behaviour at break, lunchtimes and in corridors during lesson changeovers
- Assist in managing the safe entry and exit of students
- Establishing the status of “visitors” and assisting leaders in managing any rude/aggressive behaviour
- Providing a visible security presence to deter potential threats or criminal activity
- Assisting with the implementation of security policies and procedures, liaising with the local community as required
- Reporting any unusual activities or unauthorised individuals to Senior Leadership Team
- Assisting in ensuring the safety of the school site during events
- Ensuring doors/gates are locked and opened at designated times
**Qualifications & Experience**
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- Qualifications to Level 1 or 2 (GCSE or equivalent)
- Basic IT skills, including the ability to control, monitor review PC based CCTV system and ANPR system
- Understanding of the role and function of behaviour and safety in a school environment
- Knowledge of safeguarding and how to keep children safe
- At least six months' experience of working in a school environment
- Previous security experience, law enforcement or military
- Direct experience of working with students aged 11-19
- Experience of maintaining site security
- Experience of using technology such as CCTV
