Personal Assistant for Young Adult

London, United Kingdom PillarCare Full time

We are currently recruiting a personal assistant for a sporty, friendly, and engaging young man who is turning 18 years old. The client is on the autistic spectrum but does not present with any behaviours that challenge. He enjoys going to the gym, swimming and skiing and has recently been doing some fashion modeling. He takes pride in his appearance and is very much into his clothes

The client is entering a critical phase of his development, and we are keen to find a personal assistant that can help develop his life skills. The client is very capable and aware of his surroundings but does require someone who can assist him in pushing his independence, particularly his language skills. The client can speak but chooses to be relatively non-verbal and needs encouragement to change this habit, which he is starting to respond well to.

A successful applicant will have the knowledge and skillset to help the client develop his language skills. Qualifications in speech therapy or psychotherapy will be seen as beneficial to this role. The client’s routine needs to be supervised so that he is encouraged to do everything in the day, this would include the client’s personal care as well as some domestic tasks. Any applicant will need to be able to keep up with the client physically as he enjoys sports and will also have excellent communication skills that can work with the client’s needs and his personality.

You will be privately employed by the family, who will enrol you on a PAYE scheme.

Working hours: 7.30 to 16.30, Monday to Friday. There will also be the opportunity to spend holidays with the family, paid for in full as well as some opportunities for overtime and flexible arrangements with the family.
