Bought & Sales Ledger Assistant

Our client is seeking a Bought & Sales Ledger Assistant to join their small and welcoming team on a permanent basis.
Hours of work will be Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm with a 30-minute lunch. Though the company do not operate hybrid working, they do provide a great working environment. Salary per annum is £23,000 - £26,000 and they offer 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
**Duties**:
- Responsible for the bought ledgers / sales ledgers of various group companies
- Make supplier payments by Bacs, Chaps and cheque as per Group timetable
- Extensive use of Excel spreadsheets
- Process & allocation of customer receipts
- Produce weekly debt reports
- Chase payments from customers
- Correct invoice data as required
- Process / download all data from the E Procurement system (Epsys) & sales/cash software (Connector) onto Sage software
- Chase sites to ensure all data is received on time
- Post and allocate supplier payments / customer receipts
- Reconcile supplier statements on a regular basis
- Reconcile Inter Group statements & pay each month
- File all supplier invoices in an efficient manner
- Retrieve invoices from filing when required
- Ensure that Group Finance monthly management accounts timetable is achieved
- Continuously look at ways in which systems can be improved in conjunction with the Group Financial Controller
- Ad hoc reporting for Group Financial Controller / Group Directors
- Assist / cover for other members of the finance team as required
- Undertake any reasonable duties as dictated by Group Financial Controller that are within skills and capabilities
Person Specification:
- Self-motivated & enthusiastic
- Able to produce work in an accurate & timely fashion
- Ability to prioritise work
- Communicates efficiently with all levels of individuals
- Flexible work ethic
- Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role
- Good working knowledge of Excel
