Pathway Coordinator - Vascular Surgery - Full Time permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual with strong time management and organisational skills to join the Vascular Surgery team. The post holder will be experienced in dealing with patients and be able to work with accuracy in order to provide high quality work.

You should be able to work well under pressure and have the ability to prioritise your own workload, possessing excellent organisational skills and being able to identify and escalate any problems in a timely manner.

You will be required to have excellent communication and IT skills and the ability to work as part of a team and autonomously. You will be expected to use your initiative and discretion and have enthusiasm for your work and an excellent ‘team’ working ethos, which is essential to service success.

RTT knowledge would be beneficial, however, training will be provided.

Responsible for the co-ordination of the patient pathway from referral to treatment ensuring that all national and local targets are met.

Responsible for ensuring effective utilisation of Vascular Clinics and Theatre lists.

To be the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to Vascular theatre lists and clinic appointments.

To provide support and guidance to patients, carers and relatives and information to staff.

You will be required to demonstrate initiative in organising your own workload and taking actions.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (leicestershospitals.nhs.uk)

1. Receiving referrals and booking outpatient appointments on hospital system within Local and National targets relating to RTT

2. Use of Hospital Electronic systems required to fulfil the role, this can be entering or retrieving data.

3. Scheduling patients as defined by scheduling rules and in line with Local and National targets relating to RTT and including information relating to breach dates and previous cancellations.

4. Reserving/cancelling ITU, HDU and PACU beds via the Trust’s recognised booking system

5. Ensuring that theatre and clinic utilisation is maximised and escalating appropriately where resources are under-utilised in a timely manner in order to ensure full utilisation. This may require action in a very restricted timeframe

6. To set up clinic templates on hospital systems to coincide with Consultant/Specialist Nurse requirements and availability

7. Responsible for the timeliness, accuracy and integrity of all data which is recorded on paper and electronic systems. Ensuring that all local and national standards are applied to clinic referrals and waiting list slips

8. Requesting and cancelling theatres as required

9. To work in close relation with any new members of staff and facilitate with any training required

10. Requesting and returning notes to file via the Hospital tracking system

11. To cross cover with the wider team to cover annual leave, sickness and vacancies

12. Notifying the Admin Manager of all overseas visitors

13. Supporting management with RTT and scheduling queries. There may be requirement to support management by attending activity meetings

14. Producing standard lists/reports.
