HSS379**About Us**

Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

**About the Department**

The Department of Nursing Science is growing, and we have exciting opportunities to join our experienced, friendly, and supportive team, committed to high educational standards.

The vision of the Department of Nursing Science is to provide high-quality education and research that supports excellence in practice to the benefit of all those who access healthcare, nationally and globally. The Department is a collegial and vibrant community of staff, practitioners, students, and service users who work in close partnership with colleagues from clinical practice and across the wider Faculty of Health & Social Science and University. We prepare nursing students in three fields of nursing at undergraduate level and two at postgraduate level.

We are committed to inter-professional and collaborative working in teaching, practice, and research across the Faculty, and this is an exceptional opportunity to join a team committed to enhancing the health and social well-being of people across Dorset and further afield.

**About the Role**

Following a recent promotion we are looking to appoint a clinical demonstrator to work with our existing excellent team, delivering clinical skills training to our undergraduate nursing students. We are particularly interested in speaking with individuals from a mental health background to support skills delivery in this speciality, but those from an adult background also invited to apply. We are based in a new state of the art building, which has excellent clinical simulation and skills teaching facilities and a new library.

We are keen to support those wishing to share their clinical expertise and skills with our students. Our University offers excellent staff development opportunities including the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and PhD/research options, with alignment to our Research Centres.

We have strong established relationships with our NHS Trust partners, including two University NHS Trusts, and will consider fractional posts where we can establish joint posts with our Trust partners.

**About You**

As an expert in your field, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our nursing programmes. You should have registration as a Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Council with relevant clinical practice and a commitment to inspiring and motivating students to develop their clinical skills. You should ideally have a minimum or equivalent of a first degree in Nursing / Health and Social care. It is desirable that you should have some experience of teaching or training in a health care setting.

Our Department has a growing team of staff who combine their academic role with clinical practice, and we are keen to engage in clinical-academic development and explore the combination of fractional posts with clinical work, with your existing employer.

Above all, we are looking for people who share our passion for high quality nursing education and have a strong vision for how the integration of education, practice and research can transform health care. If this is you, we would be pleased to hear from you.

**This position is available part-time for 0.6 FTE (22.2 hours per week).**

BU values and is committed to an inclusive working environment. We seek a diverse community through attracting, developing and retaining staff from different backgrounds to contribute to inspirational learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society. To support and enable our staff to achieve a balance between work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
