**About the role**

As a Physical Activity Officer, you will play a vital role in shaping and strengthening the communities we serve, bringing high quality sport and physical activity sessions into reach for vulnerable families across West Oxfordshire. You will be working collaboratively with our partners, including Active Oxfordshire, to continue the roll out of the successful countywide You Move project in West Oxfordshire.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

- Providing practical support and encouragement to residents facing disadvantage, helping them to get active and recognise and break down barriers to participation.
- Managing the deployment of casual staff and sports coaches to deliver sport and physical activity programmes.
- Staying on top of the administrative part of the role keeping all documents up to date.
- Maintaining positive relationships with activity providers and seek out new partners
- Planning the development, implementation, and review of the physical activity outreach work in line with Corporate Priorities.

**You will need**
- Coaching/fitness qualification (UKCC level 2 or equivalent).
- Awareness of legal framework and policies surrounding working with children and young people and safeguarding vulnerable people.
- Strong interpersonal skills and display of empathy and compassion.
- A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, must include Maths and English
- Experience in a similar role, delivering community-based activities.

**Special conditions**
- Ability to travel with access to a car that can be used for work purposes
- DBS check
- There may be a requirement to work at other Publica Group (Support) Ltd and/or client locations to meet the needs of the business
- We would consider a job share. You will be expected to work reasonable additional hours in line with the needs of the service

You will be employed by Publica Group Ltd which was created by four partner Councils (West Oxfordshire District Council, Cotswold District Council, Cheltenham Borough Council and Forest of Dean District Council) to deliver more efficient and improved services.
