Temple Balsall, United Kingdom Team Educate Full time

**A Special School in Temple Balsall is looking for committed, knowledgeable Behaviour/Learning Mentors who are passionate about providing outstanding SEMH support to Primary age pupils.**

Are you a dedicated and experienced Behaviour/Learning Mentor with a passion for supporting students with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Perhaps you have experience of working with young people who have experienced trauma or complex backgrounds? Are you trained in the use of tactics to best support students with their wellbeing and mental health in order to enhance their learning? If you're a skilled and passionate SEMH specialist, Team Educate would love to hear from you

The Special School caters for pupils who are in alternative provision for their education due to their special educational needs (SEN). The majority of pupils at the school will have needs relating to their Social, Emotional and Mental Health, with a diagnosis of ASC, ADHD and behavioural needs resulting from trauma. The school is highly committed to supporting their pupils, and the staff share the same, committed ethos of supporting their learners' academic progress and wellbeing at all times. The school provides a comprehensive training package to ensure their staff are ready and prepared to support their pupils with the best provision possible. They are now looking for an equally committed Behaviour/Learning Mentor to join them in their journey.

**Responsibilities of Behaviour/Learning Mentors**:

- Provide support and assistance to individuals with special educational needs in order to promote academic and social development.
- Use your skillset to communicate with learners and support them in their studies to foster engagement in the classroom.
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs and EHCPs.
- Collaborate with specialist teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide assistance with emotional wellbeing and behavioural needs, utilising restraint when and if needed.

**Behaviour/Learning Mentors will need**:

- Previous experience of working with children or young adults in a mental health/wellbeing/behaviour focused setting.
- Experience of supporting pupils with a range of learning needs (SEN), specifically SEMH, ASC, ADHD or trauma.
- Patience, empathy, and compassion, with a drive to support pupils' emotional and academic progress.
- Relevant training and qualifications are advantageous, but experience and attitude are more important.

This is an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants with a passion for making a real difference in the lives of children who need support with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. It is also an opportunity to secure a long-term position in one of our fantastic partner schools with an amazing team of teaching and support staff.
