Are you a passionate and resilient educator with a strong background in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) support? Do you have the patience and expertise to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people facing unique challenges? If so, we want you on our team
About the Role:
We are actively seeking dedicated and adaptable supply teaching staff to work across SEMH schools in Solihull, helping to shape positive futures for students with complex needs and challenging behaviour. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to bring your skills and empathy into classrooms where each day offers fresh challenges and rewards. This is a chance to join a compassionate and skilled network of educators, collaborating to support some of the most vulnerable young people in the area.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, tailored lessons: Adapt and implement lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH difficulties, supporting their academic and personal development.
Promote a positive learning environment: Encourage resilience and personal growth, maintaining high expectations for behaviour and social skills.
Manage challenging behaviours: Employ effective behaviour management strategies to handle complex and sometimes confrontational situations calmly and professionally.
Support emotional and mental health needs: Work closely with school support staff and mental health professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s development.
Build relationships: Establish trust and rapport with students, creating a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters confidence and growth.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in SEMH settings: Previous experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, ideally in specialist settings.
Strong behaviour management skills: Proven ability to handle challenging behaviour with patience, resilience, and empathy.
Adaptability and flexibility: Comfort with the supply teaching environment, able to adapt quickly to new settings and meet diverse needs on a day-to-day basis.
Empathy and commitment: A deep understanding of the unique needs of students with SEMH and a genuine passion for helping them succeed.
What We Offer:
Flexible work schedule: Choose the assignments that best suit your availability.
Competitive daily rates and holiday pay.
Ongoing support and development: Access to training and resources to help you excel in your role, with a focus on behaviour management and SEMH-specific strategies.
A rewarding role: Join a supportive network of professionals dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of young people.
If you're ready to inspire, support, and lead students with SEMH needs, and you're prepared for the challenges and rewards of working in a dynamic, specialist environment, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help shape brighter futures for the young people of Solihull.
All applicants will be contacted to discuss suitability and then invited to register with TeacherActive.
Registration involves an enhanced DBS check, ID checks and will require you to supply good professional references. We pride ourselves on excellent service. We can provide a wide range of opportunities in schools and other educational institutions, with good rates of pay, at times to suit your needs.
Regular external audits have shown repeatedly that our standards are exceptional. We are passionate about finding the right staff for each environment.
