**About us**
The Healthy Living Team aim to support the health and wellbeing of residents through supporting participation in sport, physical activity and play opportunities. We work with a range of partners to create new and further develop existing activities for people of all ages in the Vale of Glamorgan, with a focus on targeting residents with low participation rates.

**About the role**
Pay Details: Grade 7, SCP 20-25, £28,371 - £32,020

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week
The post is such that the hours of employment will be flexible to meet the needs of the service, and include evening and weekend work where required.

Main Place of Work: Office base is in the Alps Depot, Wenvoe, although the applicant would be expected to be able to travel across the Vale to undertake duties associated with the role. Some home working can be undertaken, although there is an expectation for attendance in the office when required.

Temporary Reason: This post is externally funded. Funding has currently been secured until 31/3/2024.

**Description**:
To increase sport and physical activity participation rates amongst the residents of the Vale of Glamorgan, with a particular focus on adults.

To create and implement sport and physical activity development plans that reflect the needs of the community, with the aim of increasing sustainable participation in targeted groups, including adults. Ensure the development of an inclusive programme catering for all ability levels, with a focus on those with no or low participation levels. Lead on the implementation of the Golden Pass project for older adults.

To look at evidence based and innovative ideas to overcome barriers to participation. Ensure the collation and analysis of appropriate data to measure the effectiveness of the plans, and use this information to produce monitoring reports.

To facilitate others, including sports clubs and community organisations to develop sustainable sports and physical activity opportunities for all age ranges, with a focus on adults.

To actively and creatively raise public awareness of health and physical activity opportunities available and increase knowledge on the benefits of participation.

**About you**
You will need:

- Degree or equivalent in appropriate work-related discipline or five years experience within sports / physical activity development
- Demonstrable experience of working with and supporting community-based organisations to develop and increase sport / physical activity opportunities.
- Project management experience to include writing, monitoring and evaluating project plans.
- Co-ordination, development and planning of inclusive sport and physical activity projects within a range of environments including community settings, with demonstrable experience of adapting activities / programmes to meet the needs of the targeted groups or individuals, particularly the less active.
- Experience of delivering targeted interventions to increase physical activity including development with underrepresented groups
- Demonstrable experience of using insight and data to inform decision making and planning, and to support learning.
- Experience of using innovative solutions to overcome problems and barriers faced
- Experience of successful financial planning and management of project budgets
- Experience of implementing successful learning opportunities to increase knowledge, confidence and skills amongst others
- Experience of recruiting, training and retaining volunteers.
- Experience of consulting and engaging with prospective participants, and demonstrable examples of this leading to sustained participation in physical activity
- Experience of managing health and safety processes in a physical activity environment, including undertaking risk assessments
- A working knowledge and understanding of the barriers to participation faced by different groups and individuals, and motivators that can affect behaviour change
