**Job summary**:
We are seeking individuals with experience and/or relevant qualifications from academia, private and public sectors (including the armed forces) to take on the role of a Laser Trials Conducting Officer (TCO) for the Sensing Group.

This is a critical role in ensuring the safe execution of trials on the Porton range. Trials will include the use of class 4 laser systems and will be predominantly for the Sensing Group, which includes EO, Radar, Quantum and Position, Navigation & Timing teams.

Outside of the core Laser TCO role there will be opportunities to work on various projects within the Sensing domain.

**Job description**:
**As a Level 6 Laser TCO you will**:

- Be accountable for the safety of laser trials conducted on the Porton range
- Be able to demonstrate a working understanding of JSP403 (Handbook of defence range safety)
- Be able to demonstrate a working understanding of DSA 03-OME Part 5 (Defence Code of Practice and Guidance Notes for Military Laser Safety)
- De-brief range management throughout trials activities
- Support Trials Managers to prepare trials plans, risk assessments and environmental impact statements and to ensure that they align with the range safety requirements
- Support range visits and audits as required
- Ensure trials meet its technical objectives in a safe, secure and sustainable way

**As a Level 5 Laser TCO you will**:

- Develop yourself to be accountable for the safety of laser trials conducted on the Porton range
- Develop a working understanding of JSP403 (Handbook of defence range safety)
- Develop a working understanding of DSA 03-OME Part 5 (Defence Code of Practice and Guidance Notes for Military Laser Safety)
- De-brief range management throughout trials activities
- Support Trials Managers to prepare trials plans, risk assessments and environmental impact statements and to ensure that they align with the range safety requirements
- Support range visits and audits as required

**Important Information**:
This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
