Taste Of Africa North East is a small business in Middlesbrough. We are professional, agile, and our goal is to To target the local African community and build a knowledge base of our history heritage. To build relationships within the community by connecting with local businesses, schools, and local authorities. To develop creative arts projects in order to engage the younger generation and acknowledge their achievements. To use our platform to educate the community on the importance of diversity. To develop the charity over the next 3 years in order to secure our community relationships, build local sponsorships in order to sustain the work that we do. To employ young people to build roots in the community and a foundation from which the charity can grow and develop whilst offering professional opportunity and experience to young African members. To provide African communities a platform for them to showcase their art and talent.

Taste of Arica is looking for a dynamic, experienced Engagement Officer to help us put young people aged 8 to 18 at the heart of our museums service.

**Responsibilities**:

- to sit within the team that covers exhibitions and public programmes across our museum sites, but will work with colleagues across the service. Using your skill at engaging and supporting young adults, you will build and manage the youth group and lead projects to ensure that young voices are heard in decision making across the service.
- This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, experience of delivering meaningful creative engagement with a background in art and co-production with young adults, a strong commitment to equalities and inclusion, and knowledge of safeguarding.
- need to draw upon your empathy, understanding of the challenges young people experience, and creative thinking skills to help us make a real difference to them and the museums service.

**Job Requirements**
- Experience of devising, coordinating and delivering meaningful and imaginative cultural activities/ programmes, to a range of scales and resources, for and with young people.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the sectors that work with and provide opportunities for young people.
- Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to plan, prioritise, manage and deliver concurrent projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues, partners, stakeholders & young people, to build rapport, recognise and respond to different communication and learning styles.
- Experience of implementing Health and Safety requirements and practices, and knowledge of safeguarding for young people.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues.
- Good basic IT skills and working knowledge of office packages
