**The Role**

The UK government has committed to net-zero emissions by 2050 which requires significant changes to the way we use energy today and will mean moving almost entirely from the use of natural gas to greener alternatives. This exciting position presents you with an opportunity to play a vital role in delivering ground-breaking projects which will help shape the future energy system. This includes, but not limited to, involvement in areas such as the below:

- Hydrogen blending into existing gas networks
- Research and Development in Hydrogen
- Building a wider understanding on the role of Hydrogen
- Conversion to 100% Hydrogen
- Cross
- Industry Collaboration

**Key accountabilities for the Project Specialist role**:

- To lead and deliver key technical projects seeking to understand and secure the role of the gas networks on the journey to net-zero
- Manage supplier contracts; establish and maintain productive working relationships with suppliers to leverage industry expertise
- Writing and reviewing of technical reports as well as provision of written and verbal status updates to management and leadership team
- Identify gaps, drive initiatives, and secure project approvals and funding through compelling business cases
- Coordinate multiple projects to ensure interfaces, risks and critical paths are aligned
- Manage project budgets and programmes to ensure successful delivery
- Champion the gas network’s pivotal role in the sustainable energy transition.

**Skills & Experience required for the role**:

- Gas or relevant energy industry experience
- Familiarity with gas industry standards and policies
- Good understanding of gas technical, regulatory and commercial frameworks
- Engineering and/or research & development experience
- Experienced in managing complex, multi-disciplinary and multi-organisational projects
- Understanding of the energy transition and net-zero
- Experienced in writing technical reports
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
