The Sexual Violence and Trauma Pathfinder programme is funded by NHS England. The aim is to improve care for adult victims and survivors of sexual assault and abuse with complex trauma related mental health needs so that they can recover, heal and rebuild their lives. In Plymouth, womens organisations have been working with women with complex lives. The Sexual Violence Pathfinder programme is looking to build on this work through employing a Community Mental Health Practitioner to work with the organisations in Plymouth supporting complex women to work with the trauma they will have experienced, including sexual violence(Linked to the Trauma resilience Hub).

The key focus is to upskill practitioners in trauma stabilisation throughout the sector and facilitate pathways in trauma processing work either within the community voluntary sector or within secondary mental health. The post-holder will be line managed by the complex needs team in Livewell Southwest, but will be based in Trevi Sunflower womens service. The complex needs team offer assessment of needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients from a specified group of women who have experienced sexual violence. In addition to complex needs, high risk behaviors and difficulties with engaging with services.

This role will involve working closely with partner agencies, offering supervision and support to those working in the services, supporting people to navigate mental health systems. The service is for any women residing in Plymouth. The practitioner is responsible for providing advice, signposting and face to face contact to a defined group of people with mental health problems in a community setting. To provide caseload management and support to a defined caseload also to provide teaching and supervision to students and others undertaking educational programmes.
