**About the role**

We are looking for an Asset Management Officer to help oversee the day to day estates, property, operational and facilities management of the Council’s land and property portfolio which sit across three districts encompassing Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean.

Your role will involve undertaking site visits to record and manage both responsive and planned work requirements. You will obtain quotes, supervise work and ensure it is carried out as efficiently as possible and in line with all policies and within agreed budgets.

You will, in conjunction with other Officers and Team Members, be required to take responsibility for a number of ‘custodian’ related duties which may include unlocking and locking of the main office at Cotswold District Council to provide access for contractors or other attendees, overseeing some cleaning and soft facility’s needs, etc. and will need to have a flexible attitude and approach where possible.

You will use your communication and negotiation skills to liaise with staff and tenants concerning maintenance of properties and dealing professionally with their requests and concerns as well as meeting contractors.

Siting within a wider service area, the Property team works alongside the Asset Team, Project Management and Climate Change. Publica is a council owned employment company which delivers shared services between Cotswold, West Oxfordshire, and Forest of Dean District Councils and Cheltenham Borough Council.

**You will need**:

- Educated to A-level or equivalent.
- Relevant entry level qualification and/or 3 years’ relevant experience in property maintenance, facilities management or building services
- Ability to build customer relationships
- Knowledge and experience in assessing complex situations and carrying out inspections if and when required
- Knowledge and understanding of the management of health and safety in particular relating to the management of works & contractors working in a public building environment.
- Deliver commitments and take ownership of own caseload, reshaping of plans to deliver required outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting local government
- Experience of managing and supervising consultants/contractors/developers
- Ability to work independently under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Some general practical experience would be considered advantageous
