**THE ROLE**

On behalf of our Leicester Client, we are seeking to recruit **Designated Mental Heal** Lead.

Experience in dealing with mental health

**Rate of pay: £15.21 per hour**

**Holiday Pay:£1.84 per hour**

**The role is 12.5 hours per week - please indicate on your covering letter what days and time you can work.**

**Duties and responsibilities**

To develop and co-ordinate support for students with mental health difficulties. Ensure where required, that all College students receive personalised and cohesive support for their mental health needs to enable them to be successful in their studies, leading happy and safe lives.
- Attend senior mental health lead training to acquire new knowledge and maintain an accurate understanding of the landscape of best practice in mental health and wellbeing in Colleges
- Oversee the development of effective mental health and wellbeing provision in line with the government guidance for senior mental health leads
- Work closely with the Head of Welfare & Skills and the Associate Principal for Students and Welfare on the development and implementation of the College’s approach to students mental health and wellbeing. Where necessary linking the approach to other policies and processes, for example safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and attainment
- Develop and lead an effective early intervention and prevention strategy that enables all students to access support for their mental health and wellbeing
- Coordinate and promote the College’s provision for student’s mental health needs, including counselling and the Student Assist Programme
- Oversee the mental health and wellbeing interventions for students that take place in College. In practice, this could mean; advising on PSHE content, developing pathways to support for more vulnerable young people with mental health or other needs; coordinating the delivery of specialised interventions and forming effective partnerships with mental health agencies such as, CAMHS, Mental Health Support Teams or local community provision
- Evaluate the outcome of interventions on students’ wellbeing and attainment to understand what is working and make any necessary changes to ensure effective support is provided HR/Job Descriptions/Designated Mental Health Lead - Students July 2022
- Develop cross curricular approaches that support students through the promotion and protection of wellbeing
- Develop training and teaching tools to aid in the delivery of our mental health and wellbeing objectives and responsibilities to students, ensuring a consistent college wide approach
- To support and, where appropriate, act as an advocate on behalf of individual students with mental health difficulties
- Work closely with the Welfare Lead Advisor to maintain a register of the students with mental health needs and compile information for the annual Safeguarding Report
- To deliver a programme of mental health awareness training for students and staff (to support students) in liaison with the Head of Welfare and Skills
- Work within a robust Welfare and Skills referral service and maintain records for monitoring and evaluating the impact of initiatives and intervention
- To represent College at external events and meetings, as appropriate
- To work with the Head of Welfare and Skills and Associate Principal Students and Welfare to organise on-campus events to provide support for mental health awareness throughout the year
- Offer advice and support to staff, students, parents/carers, and other external agencies regarding the College Fitness to Study policy and procedure in so far as it relates to mental health matters
