Activities Co-ordinator

We are currently seeking an Activities Coordinator to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs and events for resident activities as well as Community Events which are multi-faceted, person-centred, meet the resident’s functional needs and reflect interests of each resident.
**Skills, Knowledge and Qualification**
**Required**:
Genuine interest in working with, the relevant Resident group
Ability to communicate effectively and is a team player
Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes and in house training courses
Satisfactory Police Check and DBS check
Ability to work positively with residents' families and relatives, commissioners and relevant external agencies
**Main Responsibilities**
- Completion of an activity assessment/support plan following the gathering of information to reflect the individual resident’s goals, needs and interests.
- Liaise with residents, their families and care staff to gain information regarding residents interests
- Plan, implement and evaluate a program of individual and group activities based on the resident’s needs, wishes and preferences and;
- Provide a varied plan of activities based on peoples known interests taken from their life history (e.g. crafts, knitting, reading, film afternoons, reminiscence, gardening etc).
- Work on a 1-2-1 basis with residents as well as in small groups
- Organise and escort residents on external visits to theatres, church coffee mornings, other events and places of interest
- Participate in fund raising for the resident’s amenity fund and manage the financial records for the fund.
- Plan in house events such as BBQ, celebration parties, liaising with entertainers etc
- Maintain accurate written records of residents participation in events
- Develop weekly and monthly calendar of planned activities
- Maintaining sufficient activity supplies
- Manage the resident Tuck Shop, ensuring that goods are offered to all residents on a regular basis.
- Keep up to date with current legislation and practice guidance to ensure activities are meaningful, goal orientated and innovative.
- You need to be friendly, sociable, enthusiastic and patient. An understanding of dementia would be helpful.
- You would need excellent interpersonal skills. You must be creative and imaginative.
- Be able to work on own initiative and identify needs of others.
