**Facilities Officer**

**Dundee - Fixed Term Contract (6 months)**

Thorntons is one of the largest law firms in Scotland and our estate currently includes 13 offices spread across Angus, Tayside, Fife, Perth and Edinburgh. This post will be based in our Dundee office with regular travel to other offices during the working day.

**WHERE EVERY DAY IS DIFFERENT**

You will be responsible for repairs and maintenance issues for our office premises which will include regular office visits. You will be responsible for undertaking minor repairs as part of a programme of planned maintenance and engaging specialist contractors for more complicated repairs and maintenance issues. An important part of this role will be providing an inter-office courier service. You will also assist colleagues and other contacts with helpdesk queries and implement relevant action as required. As part of your wider role, you will also assist with the fleet management of our company cars (repairs, insurances etc), monitor and manage stock levels, assist with payment of invoices in key areas and assist with the ongoing review, revision and development of our health and safety policies and procedures.

**ABOUT YOU**

You will ideally have some previous experience in a Facilities role, although for us, it is more important that you have a keen interest in Facilities and a strong desire to progress your career in this field. Experience in undertaking minor repair/remedial works will be an advantage, together with a general understanding of health and safety issues and legislation. You will have excellent communication skills and will be enthusiastic, organised and be able to demonstrate a positive approach while working under pressure. Good IT skills are essential for this role and you must hold a full clean driving license. Training will be provided for this role, in particular with regards to practical work such as minor repairs.

**HOURS**
- Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm, 35 hrs per week
- This role will be offered on a fixed term contract for 6 months

**Facilities Officer**

Reports to:
Facilities Manager

**Main Responsibilities**
- Deal with planned and reactive repairs and maintenance issues relating to our office premises, furniture and equipment, assessing requirements and making arrangements for any repairs and maintenance required and overseeing work of external contractors
- Undertake minor repair works - for example, minor electrical work, minor joinery work etc. during office visits.
- Assist with Facilities Helpdesk queries, ensuring that issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively
- Assist with fleet management issues as required, including new vehicle orders, liaising with vehicle insurance brokers and members of staff in relation to cover and claims, and arranging services, and MOTs for firm vehicles.
- Provide an inter-office courier service, collecting and delivering documents and other items safely between offices.
- Assist with the ongoing review, revision and development of our health and safety policies and procedures.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**

The post holder will possess the following knowledge, skills and experience:

- Some experience in undertaking minor repair/remedial works, although training will be provided
- Knowledge of UK Health and Safety matters and legislation
- Good IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Ability to work well in a team and use own initiative
