The Pathology Department at Dorset County Hospital is looking to recruit to the role of Microbiology Quality Co-ordinator. The post presents an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to work with the Head of Microbiology to manage and develop the Quality Management System for the Microbiology Department and promote a quality culture within all areas of the Microbiology Department.

1. To participate in Microbiology team meetings contributing to quality issues
2. Organise and deliver training within the Department in quality practice and principles
3. Work with the SBMS team to deliver the Departments objectives
4. To promote quality principles and practice throughout the Microbiology department
5. To represent microbiology at Quality in Pathology meetings (if delegated from HBMS)
6. To maintain (along with the PQM) the microbiology section of the Quality Manual
7. To comply with the departmental document control policy
8. To operate Q-Pulse electronic quality management system with agreed limits
9. In combination with the HBMS, SBMS and PQM, to ensure review of reported incidents and appropriate corrective actions are applied to internal incident reports
10. To follow up, along with the HBMS, PQM and PM, any recommendations or finding from external inspections with regards to quality (non-technical) issues
11. To provide help and advice to the microbiology team on quality management maters
12. To identify areas within the department for quality improvements
13. To provide quality information for management reviews and quality reports
14. To work in accordance with trust policies and procedures
15. To undertake audit activities as directed by the HBMS
16. Work in accordance to the codes of practice governing Health & Safety relevant to the department.
17. To participate in risk event reporting
