**Job Description** What your new role will entail;**

We are looking for a Principal Flood Risk Consultant to join our growing Water Resources team. You will be a senior technical resource that will guide our more junior staff and proactively aim to develop our offering to local authorities, water companies and other government organisations.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Lead and input into tenders for flood risk management projects
- Mentors staff within the team to support their professional development
- Builds relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Manage and technically review Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Risk Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments
- Lead flood risk appraisals and business cases for Local Authority clients
- Keep up-to-date with developments in regulatory legislation and guidelines that may affect our services
- Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver projects to programme and within budget
- Work closely with our clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to help our clients deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects

**Qualifications** Here's what we will need from you;**
- Significant experience in flood risk management field
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
- Knowledge or experience of preparing business cases to secure Flood Defence Grant in Aid and/or parallel funding processes in place elsewhere in UK.
- Obtained or working towards professional chartership with CIWEM or ICE
- Proficient in the use of GIS.
