About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Affinity Water. As a key member of our Production operations team, you will provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, testing, and commissioning of PLC, HMI, and SCADA software systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, test, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA software systems using our company standard software solutions.
  • Project Management: Proactively manage ICA Engineer workload and collaborate with peers to deliver all requirements, using KPIs to communicate performance and agree prioritization within Customer Delivery.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure compliance with asset standards to achieve operational and business targets while meeting health and safety, water quality, and statutory requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Maintain awareness of changes to asset standards and constructively challenge current or revised asset standards to achieve the most efficient business practice.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Work with Procurement to drive performance and standardization from the supply chain as part of continual improvement.
  • Efficiency and Productivity: Drive efficiency through identification of optimization schemes, delivering projects to deadlines as part of the CommCell process.
  • Quality Assurance: Witness the FAT and SAT on projects.
  • Leadership and Development: Lead Production Initiatives and develop continual improvements at asset, site, and Area level.
  • Team Leadership: Provide visible leadership to the team and the Business through area initiatives and site tours and inspections.
  • Operational Excellence: Deliver work through the accepted Outage and RAMS processes while considering water quality, customer supply, and H&S, providing 2 weeks' notice for RAMS approval.
Requirements
  • Essential Capabilities:
    • At least 5 years experience of industrial controls software design (PLC, HMI & SCADA).
    • HNC or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.
    • A full UK clean/manual driving licence.
  • Desired Capabilities:
    • Experience of programming/testing/commissioning of Allen-Bradley and/or Omron PLCs.
    • Experience of programming using VB or other programming languages.
    • Experience of configuration of servers including virtualization.
    • Industrial communications network experience.
    • Water industry experience.
    • Experience of writing software design technical documentation.
    • Experience of working with company standard software solutions.
