We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader for the role of Matron in Neonatal Services. This post is integral to the Quality and Safety agenda and therefore the position seeks a senior nurse with significant post - registration experience in leadership and management.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Lead Nurse, Divisional Head of Nursing and Clinical Lead to ensure all relevant nursing measures/indicators are robustly monitored and effective governance arrangements are in place to ensure that patients consistently receive a good experience. The post holder will be responsible for leading on service and professional developments, to ensure all improvements are considered and contribute to the wider aims of the Trust’s 5 Year Strategy and Integrated Improvement Plan.

Neonatal services are provided across 2 acute sites. Lincoln County Hospital hosts a 15 cot Local Neonatal Unit, with Transitional Care delivered on the Post Natal ward. Pilgrim Hospital, Boston hosts a 12 cot Special Care Baby Unit which includes a dedicated 4 bed dedicated Transitional Care bay. In addition, there is a dedicated Neonatal Outreach Team providing care to babies and families 7 days a week.

Provide seamless leadership with the clinical lead and managerial lead for Neonates ensuring an effective and efficient structure to manage the specialty is in place to oversee delivery, improvement and assurance

Provide strong, visible, clinical leadership, energising, inspiring and empowering nurses and other clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective and safe delivery of services within their area of responsibility.

Promote a better understanding of nursing and how professionals can work to support patients and individuals to access appropriate services by means of role modelling and actively promoting the nursing role.

Promote an ethos of joint working, collaboration and mutual respect amongst all members of staff. Ensure all staff takes responsibility for cleanliness and safety of their own environment.

Work closely with other Matrons to ensure collaborative working and achievement of Trust objectives, particularly safe patient care.

Using evidence based and reflective practice, influence nursing practice across sphere of responsibility, acting as a change agent and a professional resource for nursing staff to ensure the delivery of national and local standards and objectives.

Maintain professional competence, authority and credibility by undertaking regular clinical sessions and being highly visible to patients, carers and staff, actively seeking feedback about the quality of services.
